Extrapolations
The director of ‘Extrapolations,’ Scott Burns, was born in 1962 in Minnesota. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, Burns began pursuing his film and TV script writing and directing career. His first screenplay to be developed was his 2006 film ‘PU-239,’ starring Oscar Isaac. His next film was ‘The Bourne Ultimatum,’ released in 2007, starring Matt Damon, Edgar Ramirez, Joan Allen, and Julia Stiles. Next, he wrote ‘The Informant!’ released in 2009, once again starring Matt Damon, as well as ‘Contagion,’ with Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Burns also wrote the screenplay for ‘Side Effects,’ released in 2013, as well as ‘The Mercy,’ with Colin Firth in 2018. Burn also wrote the screenplays for the 2019 films ‘The Report,’ starring Adam Driver, and ‘The Laundromat.’ Burns’ upcoming work includes ‘Extrapolations,’ set to be released March 17th, and ‘National Anthem,’ a TV series.
Burns is often known for dealing with the possibilities of the future, whether a few years or many decades. Human technology and engineering advanced quickly, creating an infinite number of possible outcomes for the world as we know it – and the people in it. ‘Extrapolations’ is Burns’ way of exploring those unknown reaches of the future, following people to places we cannot go without limited technology and knowledge. What should we expect going forward as the climate fluctuates? What can we do to positively affect our surroundings? What is most important when the whole world is shifting around us? Burns tackles these questions and more in his most recent work, diving into the lives of the individual characters, both relatable and realistic. As with most of Burns’ work, expect some thriller-like questions throughout the story, as well as dark twists and turns on the path to the conclusion. Characters may not be who they seem, and the world may not be void of hope, either. Watch ‘Extrapolations,’ releasing March 17th on Apple TV+.

An excerpt from the love letter: The Hollywood Insider’s CEO/editor-in-chief Pritan Ambroase affirms, “We have the space and time for all your stories, no matter who/what/where you are. Media/Cinema/TV have a responsibility to better the world and The Hollywood Insider will continue to do so. Talent, diversity and authenticity matter in Cinema/TV, media and storytelling. In fact, I reckon that we should announce “talent-diversity-authenticity-storytelling-Cinema-Oscars-Academy-Awards” as synonyms of each other. We show respect to talent and stories regardless of their skin color, race, gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, etc., thus allowing authenticity into this system just by something as simple as accepting and showing respect to the human species’ factual diversity. We become greater just by respecting and appreciating talent in all its shapes, sizes, and forms. Award winners, which includes nominees, must be chosen on the greatness of their talent ALONE.
I am sure I am speaking for a multitude of Cinema lovers all over the world when I speak of the following sentiments that this medium of art has blessed me with. Cinema taught me about our world, at times in English and at times through the beautiful one-inch bar of subtitles. I learned from the stories in the global movies that we are all alike across all borders. Remember that one of the best symbols of many great civilizations and their prosperity has been the art they have left behind. This art can be in the form of paintings, sculptures, architecture, writings, inventions, etc. For our modern society, Cinema happens to be one of them. Cinema is more than just a form of entertainment, it is an integral part of society. I love the world uniting, be it for Cinema, TV, media, art, fashion, sport, etc. Please keep this going full speed.”
