Margot Robbie’s pirates are boarding the ship and gearing up for a brand new project, and we could not be more excited! Everyone remembers the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, right? Who could forget Johnny Depp’s iconically silly, yet sly portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow. The films started way back in 2003 and came to an end in 2017, or so we thought. Now, Margot Robbie is slated to produce and star in a new reinstallment of the films, set in the exact same world but with different characters. This version of the Pirates world is set to be much more focused on female characters and their stories. There are no concrete plot details as of yet as it is still early on in the pre-production phase, but we are extremely excited to see what Robbie can bring to the franchise. In recent years she has continued to dominate the cinema as a total powerhouse of an actress. Get ready to set sail for a new Margot Robbie adventure.
Margot Robbie’s Pirates As A New Starpower To The ‘Pirates’ Franchise
In recent years, Margot Robbie has played the quirky Harley Quinn, perfectionist Tonya Harding, and the iconic Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It is no question that Robbie has extreme star power and talent. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is beloved by so many people, and Robbie seems like she could be the perfect fit for a new spinoff. While no plotlines are set in stone, we do know that the new film will be set in the same world as Jack Sparrow, but this time around the story is going to be a little more female-centric. Birds of Prey writer, Christina Hodson, is said to be teaming up with Robbie once again, according to the Hollywood Reporter, to flesh out a more female-fronted story for the pirate franchise. Hodson is no new-comer to big-screen credits either. Some of Hodson’s recent writing projects include Birds of Prey, Bumblebee, and Unforgettable.

Hollywood Hit Straight Ahead with Margot Robbie’s Pirates!
It’s not a shocking statement to say that Margot Robbie has become one of the most sought after actresses in the business. Ever since the Wolf of Wall Street, all eyes have been on the actress. Robbie steals every scene she’s in with charming ease and her projects only seem to keep getting bigger and bigger. Off the heels of Birds of Prey and Bombshell, a pirate role is going to be a bit of a mix up for the Hollywood star. But it’s one we are excited to see regardless. After the most recent ‘Pirates’ movie, a change in pace is welcomed with open arms. The fifth installment in 2017, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, did not quite live up to the previous swashbuckler films.
In the year of 2017, Disney was also releasing Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson and the second Guardians of the Galaxy film. The fifth film had the lowest-grossing opening day of the franchise, and it felt like the series of films would never quite recover. Regardless, the news of Robbie’s new venture into high waters is exciting for fans of the ‘Pirate’ films. While Johnny Depp did the franchise justice, we think it’s the perfect time to hear from some more female pirates. The studio’s idea to rebrand and revamp the franchise is overall an incredibly smart decision, seeing as how this franchise has been so very successful over the years.
