The Hollywood Insider The Savoy Hotel Best

The Savoy Hotel is a five-star hotel located in London. This hotel is committed to crafting a uniquely British experience, as evidenced by the food offered and the style of architecture. Upon visiting their website, you can tell the uniqueness of their identity means alot to them: in an attempt to flesh this out, they have an entire tab dedicated to “Savoy Experiences.” While there are many things to gush about that carve out a distinct sense of self for this hotel, perhaps the most notorious and distinct thing of all is that it was the Queen’s favorite hotel. Artists and famous elites alike have also enjoyed spending time here. As one would guess, this garnered it another nickname amongst the British people: London’s most famous hotel.

That fact alone should be enough to tantalize someone into booking a stay at the Savoy, but I’ll continue to provide some more facts anyway. The hotel’s various attractions involve everything. From time-honored traditions (the wedding venue) to innovative newer experiences (their chauffeur options) to the reinstatement of old classics (their addition of “Afternoon Tea” to their amenities), the Savoy plans to keep you satisfied and happy.

It’s Been Luxurious for A While

Let’s start with the most important aspect of it: the origin of the hotel. It’s important to begin here, as learning the history of the Savoy gives one a greater appreciation for the Savoy itself. It’s been billed as London’s first-ever luxury-style hotel, starting business in 1889. Naturally this attracted a very aristocratic audience early on, including the Royals. Before Queen Elizabeth enjoyed staying here, the Queen Mother enjoyed it. Before her, it was Prince Edward. It’s reportedly been a favorite of some famous Americans, including Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Babe Ruth, and Bob Dylan. Even famous bands such as The Beatles. Everyone who has been famous for anything seems to have gravitated to the Savoy. And The Hollywood Insider’s CEO Pritan Ambroase also counts The Savoy amongst his favorites.

The fact that so many people with such high standards of living have enjoyed its comforts speaks volumes about the anentities’ quality. The staff have not only been invested in providing a luxurious stay throughout the past, but into the present as well. They take the compliments people give them to heart, and have continued to for over a century. One way in which this currently shows up is the design of the building itself and the rooms.

Building and Rooms

The building is designed by Richard D’Oyly Carte. Richard had already built the Savoy Theater, and while he didn’t have much formal experience designing buildings, he went ahead and constructed the hotel with the help of experienced hotel builder George Holloway. This is why the building has theatrical flourishes, such as numerous front-facing balconies and gorgeous floral wallpapers in the interior decorations (designed by Collinson and Locke). These designs have evolved and changed overtime. The interior transformed from an ornate Victorian design to a regal Edwardian design to Art Deco. Many amazing structures survived these periods as of today, such as the stylish Lancaster Ballroom.

The rooms and suites are also still offered in either Edwardian style or Art Deco style. There’s over 15 different rooms and suites to choose from, and they all come in various sizes, floor plans, prices, and different inspirations. For instance, the River View Suites were designed to have a clear view of the famous River Thames from a magnificent balcony. Other spaces, such as the Personality River View Suite, pay homage to the famous history of the hotel by having it named after all the iconic “personalities” that stayed in those suites. The view from this suite even inspired a painting made by one of its most famous guests, Claude Monet. This Suite also comes with one of the coolest and possibly most luxurious functions that the hotel has to offer.

Butlers, Chauffeurs, and Uniqueness

In a move that truly makes one feel like a celebrity, the hotel gives guests staying at the Personality Suite a butler. This butler will tend to all the guest’s requests within reason. They will do everything from providing extra amenities to suggesting good walking trails. The suite also comes with usage of a chauffeur-driven luxury car to arrive in places in style – there’s the choice of a Rolls Royce Ghost, Range Rover Vogue, Mercedes S Class, or Mercedes Viano. All are lavish enough and worthy enough of any one choosing to stay at the Savoy.

The Savoy has other unique experiences as well. They have reinstituted an old tradition they call “Afternoon Tea.” Located in the Thomas Foyer, you are invited to have some of the hotel’s world-famous tea underneath a breathtaking atrium and delightful gazebo. The menu is long and plentiful, filled with over 30 teas and assorted scones and pastries to go with them. They also allow guests to learn cooking alongside the hotel’s famous chefs from Masterclasses at the Gordon Ramsey Academy. One activity listed under “the Savoy Experiences” that had me very intrigued was the private river cruise at Woods Quay. One of the most luxurious private river cruise companies in the world, the Woods family has upkept a fleet of magnificent vessels since 1866. Some of these titans of the ocean, including their enormous “Silver Barracuda,” are designed with Art Deco inspiration. Not only is Woods Quay a unique connection that the hotel can claim to have, but certain things about the Woods Quay also have artistic similarities as well, strengthening the connection even more.

In conclusion, Hotel Savoy has lots to give in terms of comforts and luxuries. These activities greatly range in style, substance, time commitment, excitement, and relaxation. It’s hard to think of a hotel that provides a more holistic experience. Combine this with a truly storied and rich history with London and its numerous emerging cultures and celebrities, and you get something truly unforgettable. One might think that after having a certain number of options, it’d be easy to become paralyzed into choosing nothing. If anything, Hotel Savoy proves there are never too many ways to live luxuriously.

An excerpt from the love letter: The Hollywood Insider’s CEO/editor-in-chief Pritan Ambroase affirms, “We have the space and time for all your stories, no matter who/what/where you are. Media/Cinema/TV have a responsibility to better the world and The Hollywood Insider will continue to do so. Talent, diversity and authenticity matter in Cinema/TV, media and storytelling. In fact, I reckon that we should announce “talent-diversity-authenticity-storytelling-Cinema-Oscars-Academy-Awards” as synonyms of each other. We show respect to talent and stories regardless of their skin color, race, gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, etc., thus allowing authenticity into this system just by something as simple as accepting and showing respect to the human species’ factual diversity. We become greater just by respecting and appreciating talent in all its shapes, sizes, and forms. Award winners, which includes nominees, must be chosen on the greatness of their talent ALONE.

I am sure I am speaking for a multitude of Cinema lovers all over the world when I speak of the following sentiments that this medium of art has blessed me with. Cinema taught me about our world, at times in English and at times through the beautiful one-inch bar of subtitles. I learned from the stories in the global movies that we are all alike across all borders. Remember that one of the best symbols of many great civilizations and their prosperity has been the art they have left behind. This art can be in the form of paintings, sculptures, architecture, writings, inventions, etc. For our modern society, Cinema happens to be one of them. Cinema is more than just a form of entertainment, it is an integral part of society. I love the world uniting, be it for Cinema, TV, media, art, fashion, sport, etc. Please keep this going full speed.”
